WTF Sanctioned Rule

Welcome to Washer Toss Federation Sports

Official Washer Toss Rules

Objective

Washer Toss is played with two or four players attempting to toss washers into the box or pipe to score 21 points first.

Washer Toss Equipment

  • Washer Toss Boxes: Standard washers toss  boxes are 17.5 inches by 17.5 inches. The pipe is positioned in the center of the box, with a 4-inch diameter.

  • Washers: Each team has three washers of differing  colours. Washers should be 2.25 inches in diameter.

Washer Toss Distance

  • The Washer Toss Boxes are placed 20 feet apart from front edge to front edge

Washer Toss Rules

  • Washer Toss is played with two teams, each consisting of one player (singles) or two players (doubles).
  • Players toss their washers from the tossing area next to each side of the box.
  • Players alternate turns tossing  their washers toward the opposite box
  • After each team has tossed three washers, players take score, and resume tossing to the opposite box.
  • The team who scored points in the previous round goes first in the next round. If it was tied, the team who went first in the last round gets to go first again.

Washer Toss Scoring

  • A washer that goes in the pipe and stays there is worth 3 points.
  • A washer that lands in the box and stays there is worth 1 point.
  • A washer that lands on the ground and stays there is worth 0 points.
  • A washer that lands on the box lip (rare) and stays is worth 5 Points.
  • A washer that lands on the pipe lip (extremely rare) and stays is a game winner.

  • Cancellation Scoring: Only one team can score points per round. The team with the higher score cancels out the points of the opposing team in that round.
  • Points Calculation: The team with the higher score in a round earns the difference in points. For instance, if Team A scores 6 points and Team B scores 3 points in an round, Team A earns 3 points for that inning.

Winning

  • Be the first player or team to reach or surpass 21 points at the end of a round of play.

Box Dimensions

Box dimensions should be 17.5 by 17.5 inches with a height of 5.5 inches and a lip of 1.25 inches. The pipe should have a radius of 4 inches and the height should be flush with the top of the box.

Washer Size

Washer size should be 2.25 inches in diameter with differing colours to distinguish between teams.
